Corruption of Images

The Norton "running" Symbol is progressively attaching itself to all the images on my computer.  Can I stop this?

Hi, greenfronds,

Welcome to our community!

This sounds like an optional feature to Norton's backup functionality, called "icon overlays," that visually indicates the status of each file. You can turn this option off by going into your settings and deselecting it. I'll see if I can give you more specific directions in a minute....

[Edit: here's a link to a previous post from Guru PapauZ, with an image to show you the checkbox on your main settings screen (bottom image) that you'll want to deselect to clear this up. Note that this is for an earlier version of Norton 360 so you may observe slight differences in the screen, but I just verified it against my own copy of v.5 so it should get you where you want to go. Just double-click on the little Norton icon in the system tray at the bottom of your screen, and clock on "Settings" in the menu bar at the top of the main Norton window that this brings up.]

Good luck, and let us know how this works out! We're here to help, until you're ready to click that "Accept as Solution" button to help future users experiencing the same issue find a working answer more quickly.

Thanks so much!  Such a simple solution when you know how. As you pointed out, the Backup Settings  page was quite different on my version of Norton, but it was easy to sort out. I would attach an image if I knew how.

Thanks again!

Excellent; glad it was fairly straightforward!

Hold down the Alt key and press PrtSc (Print Screen) to "capture" an image of your active window. You can then paste this into an image program like Paint or a Microsoft Office component like Word or PowerPoint, save it to your hard drive, and then attach it to a message here by clicking the "Choose file" button you'll see under "Attachments" below the box you type your message in, when you're creating a message to post.

Attached files may take a while to be visible in your post, while they  await moderator approval.

Glad we could help; it's  what we're here for! :smileyhappy:

For inserting images you will need to use the little green tree icon near the smillie in the reply editor.  Then browse to the file saved in your machine.  Once downloaded it will take a bit of time until the mods approve it so that it is visible to the rest of us.
