A few days ago I tried to start my primary PC, which I just upgraded to NIS2013, and it failed to start. I can hear the drive spinning up and the light under the mouse lights up, but the monitor shows no signal. Well I figured the PC was a few years old and it's time had come. I broke out a standby PC, and while setting it up I (by mistake) installed a trial copy of NIS2013. I tried to find a trial of NIS 2012 but hit the wrong icon. This morning when I turned that PC on, again I hear the drive spinning up and the light under the mouse lights up, but no signal to the monitor. Both PC's were running Windows XP SP3 and a trusted copy of NIS 2012. I've tried inserting the startup disk and the drive light blinks, then nothing?
I've replaced the monitor, but still nothing. The only thing I can think of that I've done, is install NIS 2013. While I was downloading programs, to that backup PC, NIS2013 did show it blocked (I'm not sure about the wording) Adware.Crossid popup.css and vid-saver.dll. These were not on my primary PC, so I don't think they have caused the problems. Besides getting another PC and installing NIS 2013 on it, what could my next step be? Do I need to take both PC's to the PC's emergency room? I'm at a loss. I'm on a third backup PC that will NOT have NIS 2013 installed on it, until I figure something out.
