I just downloaded the Norton Antivirus yesterday and installed it and my computer hasn't stop having problems since (I downloaded it through my college WVU). First some stupid "syslogd" takes up all my cpu (the entire dual core) so I can't hardly do anything. Then after OS update and restartup "aslmanager" took up all my cpu space along with a little friend that it brought along "NortonMissedTasks".
I have never used an anti-virus software because I hate how buggy and stupid it is. This is no exception, obviously. I, however, am required to use this software for school in order for me to be able to connect to their computer system. I don't know what the problem was or why the software did this on my computer. I have a new macbook pro, but I bought it before snow leopard came out, so I just have leopard. I have never installed any other Norton software before. I am sorry if I have come off slightly harsh, it's just that this software has completely ruined everything that I had planned to do today, so I'm not in the best of moods. I have uninstalled it and the cpu problems have discontinued. I don't know why this has happened, but please, if you know anything or any reason why these things are happening, please respond.
