My first post, however, I have searched the forums.
I have a Dell XPS 600 that came with the DSR partition, which allowed me to recover the system partition to its factory state. I recently upgraded to a new SATA drive and want to know how I can create a similar partition.
I have already migrated the OS from the old HD to the new one using the 'Copy My Hard Drive' option (went smooth). I have also formatted the old drive and created a 50GB unformatted partition on the new drive, along with the system partition, to hold the recovery image. How would I go about creating a backup on the unformatted partition which I could boot into after POST like I did with the Dell DSR. With the Dell DSR, all I had to do was hit CTRL+F11 after POST and it would take me to the utility to install the OS from the backup image. I've heard of other Dell users deleting their original DSR partition and making their own but I'm not sure how to do it.
Is this even possible to do? If so, I would really like to get it done a.s.a.p.
