Re Norton Antivirus 2009 - I've disabled automatic updates on my laptop to prevent Norton from getting in the way of a quick sign-on to a wireless Internet connection to retrieve information. There is nothing more frustrating than needing to get a simple telephone number off the Internet while an application insists on dominating a weak, slow and intermittent connection to the Internet.
PROCESS - I manually initiate updates when I have a good connection to the Internet and time is not of the essence. . To initiate an update, I currently must locate the tiny Norton Antivirus icon in the lower right corner of my screen, open the application, and request "Run Live Update." QUESTION - How do I build a short cut for placement on the desktop to initiate that process? In the past, I'd launch LUALL.exe, but the link to it seems to have disappeared.
Thanks for the tip... Either of these work
"C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\Engine\16.5.0.134\uiStub.exe" /lu
"C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\Engine\16.5.0.134\uiStub.exe" -lu
