Crypto account hacked

Crypto account was hacked, all crypto was stolen. Tried to open a case but was told it was my fault; Norton wanted no part of the liability. Goggle did more to help me than the Norton team, was not able to recover any of the loss. Not going to continue with the services I have, Ultimate plus, Antivirus plus, and utilities ultimate. Be aware of Crypto attacks on Coi*****.

Was this Crypto from the older Norton Crypto offering?

How was Google able to help?

  • Contact Financial Authorities:
    • Federal Trade Commission (FTC): Report the incident at reportfraud.ftc.gov. The FTC collects reports about fraud, scams, and bad business practices.
    • Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3): File a report with the FBI’s dedicated unit for cybercrime at ic3.gov.
  • Contact Crypto Exchange Support: Since you mentioned “Coi*****”, I assume you were using Coi nbase. It is worth continuing to work with their support team, as they have dedicated security measures for account takeovers.
  • Secure Your Accounts: Ensure all your other online accounts (email, banking, social media) have strong, unique passwords and multi-factor authentication enabled to prevent further breaches.

General Information on Crypto Security

  • Personal Responsibility: It is a common policy in the cryptocurrency industry, and even with some cybersecurity firms, that users are primarily responsible for securing their private keys and account credentials. This often leads to situations where companies disclaim liability for user-related security breaches.
  • Prevention: The most effective defense remains using strong passwords, enabling hardware security keys (like Yubikeys) for 2FA, and being extremely cautious of phishing attempts.
