Customized SRD fails to start network services - Could not get network adapters

Problem with a new HP Pavilion Laptop with Vista Home Premium 32. I installed Norton Ghost 14.0 and ran all backups, which are stored on a network mounted disk using the WAN cable. This was without any problems. I then created a customized SRD using the wizard and "automatic" mode adding the detected needed drivers. I did then test the new SRD disk in Norton Ghost and got a "ok" message, i.e. "The SRD contains all needed drivers for your computer".

Using the SRD to boot the machine into recovery mode works fine, but then when trying to start "network services" I get the error message "Could not get network adapters" and hence I can't access the network interface and then also not the recovery points...

I have two other machines of Model ASUS (different models) and on these Norton Ghost 14.0 works fine with their individual customized SRD for each one of those. (3 licenses of NG in total!).

I have compared the two ASUS with the HP laptop in the process of creating the customized SRD and in all three cases the wizard finds the need to add drivers for the "WAN Miniport (SSTP)". On the ASUSs this seems to work and I can boot into recovery mode and start network services, but on the HP Pavilion there is something not going the right way, and I can't start network services in the recovery environment.

Any ideas on what might be the solutions for this problem is much appreciated.
