I got a warning that a file had been downloaded and was not safe. It was a filename I recognised and I thought was an automatic download from Portable Apps. For anyone not familiar with Portable Apps, it automatically offers updates.
The downloaded file is a little used app so I was not surprised by the warning and authorised it. When I thought more about it, I realised Portable Apps could not have triggered a download for this file so I wanted to reverse the authorisation until I could contact the supplier of the genuine app to check things out. At that stage I could not find anywhere in the Norton app that allowed me to reverse it so I started a chat.
It went round in circles until eventually the confusion was clarified. During the chat the agent repeatedly stated the scan was saying it was OK because I had authorised it, then telling me right click and scan the file! A bit pointless if it was only saying it was OK because I had authorised it. Eventually it seemed the agent was saying that I had authorised the file to be put on my PC, nothing more, and that the right click scan of the file saying could be relied on.
At that point I typed my understanding to check the previous sentence was what was being said only to find I had been cut off.
I had to repeat points many times and still did not get a straight answer to a straight question and think someone needs to review the transcript of the chat. However, there does not seem to be anywhere that you can raise a complaint. Can anyone tell me how to log a complaint that will be seen by Norton?
