Cybersecurity Training Videogame

I have an idea to better train people about cybersecurity so they can know how to keep their computers as secure as they can from a malicious user.  Design a videogame that is accessible only to people that have an account with Norton that teaches people about cybersecurity as they play the game.

There could be creative puzzle designs that allow the players to learn what kind of cybercrime is being performed, and how to go about designing a program, or software code that stops said cybercrime.  The storyline of the game could be real situations that cybersecurity professionals face on an everyday basis, and that these people need help to stop the cybercriminals in the game.

There could be a ranking system, and also a trophy/achievement system for awards/rewards for completing puzzles.  It could also have a statistics reporting system so that people can compare themselves to what they should have learned, along with comparing themselves to what other people have done based on their stats in the game.  This would be like a type of leaderboard system that is so common on videogames today.

Then Norton's could take the top players in the leaderboards under consideration for a selection of the most able candidates to learn more about cybersecurity, and to initiate programs in schools/colleges/universities to have a curriculum based on cybersecurity.  This way there can be better preparation for cybersecurity personnel to be trained properly in ways to secure people's computer systems from cybercriminals.

It is my personal opinion that the only way to stop cybercriminals is to have a system that is able to stop them, and from what I can tell there is a need for cybersecurity professionals.  Eventually, without a training system in place to better train, and prepare future cybersecurity professionals, the malicious users of the world will destroy entire nations through information warfare/espionage.

This is just an idea I had while thinking how to find different ways to get the highest rank on some of my videogames that I play in my spare time.  I have found, at least for me, that when I think about other things then the problem I am facing I seem to design a solution to fix said problem.  I think that this same way of problem solving is already being implemented by malicious users because more, and more there is something about new ways to access online information about people.

It would only make sense to start thinking like a malicious user in order to visualize ways to breach cybersecurity protocols, and to do something unexpected to better secure computer systems.  Here is an example of what I mean by this:  Police Officers are trained to notice crime patterns, and to stop the crime from happening, or to catch the criminal so that justice may be served.  However, in recent years criminals have stopped doing the same patterns, and have actually done things that Police Officers are not trained for, thus they get away with more crimes leaving victims of crime without justice.

It wasn't too long ago that law enforcement agencies started doing the unexpected by using social networking sites like Facebook that allows people to report criminal activity by posting it to everyone in the world to see.  Police Officers in turn use these posts to track down criminals, thus bringing justice to those who deserve it.

This is some of the reasoning behind designing a videogame that teaches people about cybersecurity.  That is something that malicious users won't expect because like the average person they don't expect the unexpected.  I hope you all like this suggestion.  Please feel free to give me feedback on this.  Thank you all for taking the time to read this.
