Data Protector blocking error

I have just renewed my annnual subscription to my payroll software, but when I try to use it I get a pop up message from Norton saying "Data Protector blocked a suspicious activity" and the software refuses to update and will not upload the info to HMRC. I have tried adding the software to the exclusions list,, but that has no effect. I have been told that other uses of this particular Payroll software (Which I have used for many years without a problem) are having the same difficulty. (Norton 360 Premium, Windows 10.

Data Protector may object to temp files created by program installs/updates.
Data Protector may object to unsigned temp files created by software installs/updates
I've needed to temporarily disable Data Protection to install/update trusted programs.
Data Protection exclusions are by process.

Security History => Data Protector => Export (Save as Text) and post related event/s here:

Curious, did you check Norton Insight => Untrusted Files?

Data Protector protects your PC from malicious processes that intend to destabilize your PC, corrupt and/or steal your data and propagate the malicious nature to other good processes. You can add more folders, extensions, and can also exclude processes for scanning and protection.

Turning off this feature reduces your PC protection. So, we recommend you to keep this feature turned on always.

Thank you. Looks like that has solved the problem - but I won't know until next month as I have done all my few payrolls for this month (After several atytempts!)

Did you restart your computer after adding the software to the exclusion list for Data Protector?  Be sure you are using the Restart command. Not Shutdown and startup again if you have Windows Fast Startup feature enabled. If you use Windows 8/8.1, 10 or 11, there can be an issue with the Windows Fast Startup feature.. See more information here.
