Date is wrong on N.I.S 2012 Interface

After a list of problems with 2013 , i reinstalled N.I.S 2012 yesterday , everything seems fine apart from the date is saying 15/12/12 on the main interface and has been saying that since yesterday .

Why is the date wrong ??   help please

windows 7 ultimate , 64 bit . NIS 2012

Are you referring to the Activity Map date? I installed NIS 2012 on 12-19-12 and the date on mine shows Sat 15 Dec, 2012 and has not changed.

I am running NIS 2011 and my main screen activity map also reads 12/15/2012. I don't usually watch this so i don't know if it is updated every day. I just happen to see it today.

Hi Aviator & TooStrong

Yes the date on the activity map is saying 15/12/12 and it is still saying it now .    Looks like it just isn't me then.

Any ideas to why this is ?

Since Norton dropped the Activity Map in the 2013 version it appears that the Activity map update is a low priority item in 2011 and 2012. I doubt if the update is still being issued.

I installed NIS 2012 on 12-19-12. The first thing I did was to run Live Update. One of the updates was for the Activity Map but have not received any map updates since then as shown in the screenshot.

Interesting .   Maybe they will not release anymore map updates then .

How did you get the yellow digits on your taskbar clock ?  i like it

I like it too. I am a member on the sevenfourms website and a Guru on that forum made a zipfile for the Yellow Clock and sent it to me. Check your PM.

Hello Aviator, I'm on Seven Forums as well!

The date on my Norton was the same too, 12.15.12.

Yeah, It looks like we are all in the same boat and I will be seeing that date for the next 351 days.

15/12/12 it is for the next year then , lol

Is anyone still seeing this problem? Thanks.

Activity map shows 15th dec 2012

Thanks Jo. And your defs are still up-to-date, right? It's just the date on the Activity Map that is showing Dec 15th? If that's the case, there's no need for concern. It's just the activity map that isn't being updated as frequently as it was before. Thanks.

Yep, Tony. My NIS 2012 is fully up to date, and my Activity Map date is showing as 15.12.2012.

Me too.

No updates available.

Running NIS 2012 it's the same for me. I'm rarely on that side of the UI, but I checked and the date is like others .. December 15, 2012. Always fully updated. Like has been said, the Activity Map is low priority.

This topic keeps coming up from time to time in this forum.  I don't get why anyone cares about it.  Here's what I don't understand.

How do you _use_ the date that's shown?

No, not how to _do_ it. (You just look at it, I guess.)

But what do you use it _for_?

Say that after some update it shows a yellow dot where Transylvania is (or wherever).

After the next update there is no yellow dot at Transylvania.

How does that ... (I don't know) ... "affect" you?

I am serious about the above question.  Because this topic keeps coming up.  The reason that I ask is that I wonder if someone knows something about this feature that I don't understand that makes itssomehow  useful.  Because I have never figured out any use for it.

Most of us that use NIS 2012 don't use the Activity Map. I have never used it. It's informational only, showing the number of threats in different cities in different countries around the world. When clicking on the different countries and continents, it will run a ticker showing the number of threats in the major cities of that country. When clicking the details link, it will run a ticker of threats with info behind each threat. Clicking info behind any of the threats, will bring up a box telling you that Norton is protecting you from that threat.

Again, it's all informational only. I keep my NIS 2012 pinned with the Advanced Interface showing only. I've always had it that way. I never even see the map. It was only because of this thread I learned the date on the map was stuck at 12/15/2012. The map has become low priority so it's not updated as much as it once was. This coincides with the map being eliminated from Norton 2013 version 20 products.

It's fully understandable that users might be concerned with the map not being updated, that their 2012 product might not be being fully updated also. Nothing wrong with this thread if that is partly the concern.

NIS 2012 is being fully updated except for the map. The 2012 version is not ancient yet. The current release has only been out for four months.

I'm seeing it with the clock starting at 00:00 each time I open the GUI -- see a query from Gorpy this morning too.
