Hi Guys,
I have run into this problem 3 times now:
twice on an older pc, running xp
once on a new pc, running win 7 64bit
Basically this is what happens:
I install everything (in both cases I built the pc's from scratch), Norton being the first thing after all driver and OS updates. In all three cases I activate Norton, and in all three cases, between 1hour - 3 or 4 days, Norton simply "deactivates" itself - i.e. it claims that it has expired/hasn't been activated.
Weird? Both pc's were (and are for that matter) clean of malware. All my licences are valid (in case you doubted me for a second!!). The ONLY connection between the pc's is possibly that both of them had "fragile" hardware - The older one I believe has a bit of a HDD issue (although its now been going for over a year and hasn't died) and the new one had a faulty graphics card. So hardware a hardware problem was literally the only similarity. This was originally with NIS 2010 (first 2 times) and then 2011, about a month ago (we got a new home pc).
Im writing finals atm (wish me luck!) so I hadn't the time to report it until now :) Unfortunately I uninstalled NIS from both and replaced it with something free for the mean time, because I've used up 3 of my installs thanks to this, and don't really want to ask Symantec to reset them (again), because I know I would start becoming suspicious! (after all my reformats AND this... you can imagine how many times I've had to reinstall! ~ about 8 times)
Anyway, has anyone heard of this problem? Any fixes/suggestions? I don't want to reinstall it and have it happen again, unless Symantec needs some logs/whatever from the product itself.
Thanks :-)
Matt
