I wonder if anyone in this community could advice me on the password to unlock my mobile Android phone. Basically what happen was that I removed my SIM card by chance and power up the smartphone. Norton anti-theft detected missing SIM card and prompt for password. I put back the SIM card and then power up the phone and the same password prompt appear again.
The problem though is that I have never configure any buddy contacts or even configured the password for this app. I just download and install it and then move on..Now it seems that phone is hijack by Norton itself and I have no idea how to unlock my phone. Is there any default password for this app if someone just download and install it and then did not configure any user password for it? Any advice much appreciated..
Are you sure you are talking about Norton Anti-Theft (which is a web base product for all types of computer, tablets etc) or are you talking about Norton Mobile Security (NMS) (Called Norton Security and Antivirus on the Android Market and which is designed to be used on mobile phones)? What you describe fits in many respects the latter but I note that you claim and have posted in the forum for the former.
Whichever product you are using I have never (repeat never) heard of this happening before. As far as I am aware the functionality does not exist in the case of Norton Anti-Theft and while it exist in the case of NMS it only comes into effect after it is activated. So from what you say it sounds as if you have acquired someone else's phone which had NMS loaded. I hope you will therefore understand that under these circumstances I think you will need to convince us that you are the rightful owner before anyone is likely to offer any further assistance.
After all, if it was your phone and you had lost it, then you would probably not want us to help someone to try and get around the security software you put on the phone (and configured) to protect it.
As I tried to explain in the other thread the password is set by the person who installs the software, normally the owner. This is done to protect the device. Security software that could be got around with a standard password would not be worth having.
So by the design of the software the installer of the software is the one to have the password. If you did not install the software then why not go back to whoever did.?
