I've noticed that, unlike other scanners I've used in the past, Norton 2010 doesn't perform a virus signature update immediately on start-up, but seems to lump this in with other 'automatic tasks' which get delayed by (default) 10 minutes. This seems odd to me, and a little dangerous too. Also on my laptop, which doesn't get used that often, I'll often get a warning pop up that my virus signatures are out of date and telling me to fix it myself by doing a manual update, which also seems a little un-"user friendly". Why not just do the update anyway?
I can sort of understand delaying other things like start up scans, but come on, just do the Live Update as soon as the machine starts up and has network connectivity like everyone else! I know I can set the delay for these automatic tasks lower, but it won't allow me to set it to 0.
