Deleting Norton 360 Backupfiles

I'm having trouble deleting old backup files that is taking up quite a bit of space on my WDmybook.

I went into the backup settings, Where, and selecting a drive. When i click on delete backup files and select all. it doesn't delete any files as the avallable space doesnt' go up. i've tried deleting several backups, i've got 4 diffrenet types backup sets

Hi TheATeam.

You could consider going directly into your backup drive and delete the files from there.

Yeah i guess i could do that, but there's a few folders that i'm not sure if it's part of the backup. Which are

$RECYCLE.BIN and 192a49e80b2fb6df6847, also one BIN file MediaID.bin

All the backup files should be in a single folder in the root of the target disk.  The folder should be called N360_BACKUP.

In that folder are a set of folders one for each backup set that you have created.  If you cannot identify which is which from the date then look in a folder and find the file DiscID.dat.  If you open that file with a text reader such as notepad you will see the name of the relevant backup set.  Then if it is one you do not want you can delete that whole folder from the N360_BACKUP folder.

Does that help?

yeah that folder i saw N360 too... but there's also ARestore.exe that is ouside of the N360 folder.

for some reason i can't access "192a49e80b2fb6df6847" folder, i've tried changing the admin access folder but i get an error which is weird. i'll figure that out later.

Hi arestore.loc and arestore.exe are the two files that allow you to restore the files even if you loose N360.  So unless you are planning to remove N360 completely I would leave them alone.  I assume the folder you quote is within { } brackets, which is the normal form for the N360 backup folders.

I suppose if you really wanted to start again you could just try deleting the whole N360_BACKUP folder and start afresh.  But that would leave you open to a risky period with no backup.

Oh ok, alright thanks. for the info.
