Desktop 'badge'

Any idea why the desktop 'badge' or widget thing for NIS should suddenly disappear? Sorry, I don't know the correct term for it.

 

Norton itself seems to be working as normal, and shows no issues and will update on request when I access the control panel from the status bar.

 

But the 'thing' just disappeared when I woke the machine up. 

 

I've rebooted the laptop and it still hasn't reappeared.

If you mean the thiing like a credit card with a green band at the top saying Secure when you are and some icons underneath then part of the reason for disappearance is that Microsoft withdrew all these "Gadgets" for Windows 7 & 8 since they regarded them as insecure and a possible source of infection by malware.

 

So Norton have dropped theirs although I still have mine in WIndows 7 because I have Norton Internet Security 2012 installed still.

 

Did you upgrade to NIS V20/2013 perhaps?

 

Click on Support / About and see if the Version begins with 19 or 20 .....

 

Are you using Windows 7 or Windows 8 ?
