Just to make sure you understand...... 1.exe was part of the VIRUS/TROJAN...... it's not part of windows.... the registry has been modified to replace the correct route to the internet with an extra step....
Do you know the EXACT name of the spyware/malware/trojan that was removed? (also include the name of the program that told you the name of it, since there is no industry standard on naming... ie. what one company calls spyware.backdoor.a might be spy.backdoor.W to another company)..... [yea... i made up those names I used in the example... so no one confuse anything based on that]
Hi all.
thanks for your replies. Unfortunately ive not been back to girlfriends to check the info.
I found out today that she has taken PC into a shop to be fixed.
Thanks for trying to help anyway.

Hi all,
thanks to anyone who can help with this.....
firstly my appologies.. im not up on PC terminology and how PCs work so please reply
as if your talking to a total newb. I have a very basic understanding of PCs
right... my girlfriends kids recently downloaded a Malware trojan.
I ran a spyware cleaning prog with removed it.
However.... it also deleted a file which the PC was using to connect to the net:-
1.EXE
I click on START.... right click on MY COMPUTER and click on MANAGE
I then click on SERVICES AND APPLICATIONS. Then on SERVICES.
When i double click on DHCP CLIENT the path indicates it is trying to run
the 1.EXE file in a "My Documents" subfolder.
As this 1.EXE is no longer on the PC I cannot connect to the internet.
Ive been advised the path should read:-
C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs
But as its grey'd out it wont let me change it
How do I change the path back to what i believe it should be?
Many thanks
Ftumch
Have you Updated your Norton Product, via LiveUpdate, and Run a Full System Scan? If not, then do this and let us know if it Found anything. Also, what Version are you using and what Product (I take it it is N.I.S.?)?
