I have Norton 360 and every single time I run the Diagnostic Report, I always receive an error that states, "your operating system does not have the latest service packs", however every time I check for updates for Windows, I receive a message that states my system is updated and no further updates are needed at that time.....why do I keep receiving contradictory messages about my system? My computer is an Acer Aspire 1830, running Windows 7 Premium and Internet Explorer 9. Any clarification you could offer would be most appreciated.
Have a look at your Diagnostic Report and click on show details for Operating System. Win 7 Home Premium should show "Service Pack 1" as the patch level and it will also tell you the date that SP was installed.
You should be able to then go to Windows Update > View Update History, scroll down to the date it said it was installed and see if it is listed in your Wondows Update history.
Press the "Windows"key and the Pause key simultaneously. This will bring up the Windows information screen. What does that screen show for your operating system? If it does not show SP1, then go back to Windows Update and click on Restore Hidden Updates. Then click on Check for Updates. If SP1 shows as available, you should install it. It can help with compatibility with your Norton product.
It shows Windows Home Premium 64. It says nothing about SP 1 and there are no hidden updates and there isn't is a Windows Update either. I have tried these options before, it hasn't worked. My computer is just cursed. Are there any other suggestions I could try or should I just keep ignoring the diagnostic report?
Please left click on the Start Button (windows logo in bottom left hand corner (on System Tray).
In the Search block that appears, type Windows Update.
Windows Update should apepar at the top of the popup box.
Left click on Windows Update and a new windows should open.
Then do what peterweb suggested in his last post - re: "click on Restore Hidden Updates. Then click on Check for Updates. If SP1 shows as available, you should install it."
If it downloads and installs, after a reboot, rerun your Diagnostic report and see if it shows as updated.

I have followed all the steps you have listed and rerun the diagnostic report and it still states the same thing.....I do appreciate all your assistance however nothing seems to work which I cannot understand since someone somewhere has to know something or else my computer truly is cursed! Perhaps, I should just retire this computer and it's system....thank you again!
I don't know what happened but after fiddling around with something, the service pack window came up and started installing...so, my diagnostic report issue is solved!! Thank you, I am sure that it was only through all of the assistance and a miracle that everything is just fine now!!
