Hi All
The last time I Backed up my ID Safe, to a .NPM file, was just prior to updating from v 5.2.0.13. to v 6.1.2.10. This was late in March. Now I want to Backup my ID Safe again, but I can't locate where to backup. This is what I used to do:
- In the Norton 360 main window, move the mouse pointer over Identity Protection and click Manage Identity Protection.
- Under Identity Safe, in the Backup Identity Safe Data row, click Configure.
- In the Backup Identity Safe Data dialog box, type, or browse to the location to which you want your data saved.
- Type the name that you want to assign to the file with a .NPM suffix.
- If you want to back up your data with a password for more security, type and verify the password.
- Click OK.
- In the confirmation dialog box, click OK.
Now all I see under Identity Safe is to Export or Import Data (along with setup, browsing options, etc.). I can export as a .DAT file, but am I wrong in thinking this isn't the correct format?? I am Logged In to ID Safe.
Help
Thanks
Barb

Hi fritzmom,
Indeed, there has been a change to Identity Safe in N360 v6. The data is now stored as a .DAT file rather than .NPM, and the "Backup" option has been replaced with the "Export" option you mentioned. To backup your information, select "Export" and choose the .DAT format. If you want to export the data as human-readable plain text (not secure, but good for printing out a copy to store somewhere safe) choose the .CSV option. You should also keep an old .NPM backup on hand, if you have one. The .NPM format is compatible with N360 v.6, but the new formats are not backwards compatible with N360 v5. If you ever need to downgrade or move your data to a machine running N360 v5, that .NPM backup will come in handy.
Thanks a whole bunch for the info.
Since I only backed-up when adding new Log-ins, I didn't notice the change until this morning. Good thing I'm not really losing my mind!
Great idea to keep the .NPM backup, and that I will do.

You're welcome. It's nice to know that you are doing routine backups. If only everyone were as diligent,...
