I had a problem with Norton which I have been evaluating , I received a 3 month trial with the purchase of a new MB.
I was recently upgraded from 100 mbps to 120 mbps by my ISP , yet when I ran speedtest I found that I was loosing around 40 mbps on the speedtest, I am using firefox 23, I turned off my extensions in firefox and found it was the norton extension that was causing the problem, so I went online and used the norton online help system.
I reached a helper who , after I explained what my problem was, wanted my to download a remote access program to my PC. I said that I was not happy to allow him access to my PC and would not Download the program. He said that He could not help without my downloading the program, I said that I still would not allow remote access to my PC, I saw the message on the chat screen that he was typing, then I was disconnected saying the connection was lost, so I then uninstalled norton from my system.
On rebooting, my system now reports that it is not a genuine copy of windows, (it is, I bought the pro version and installed and validated it 2 months ago) . When I try to go online to Validate my windows, I get a pop up which stops the process.
this is not really acceptable that you have done something to my PC because I uninstalled your product and I like to know how to resolve the problem.
I have reported this to microsoft and I am waitin a reply.
