I just upgraded from NIS 2006 to NIS 2010. I like NIS 2010 a lot, but I have two questions to which I cannot seem to find answers on the forums:
1. NIS 2006 had a feature that would allow me to completely disable NAV for a specified time. I really liked that feature. I've noticed the same feature in NIS 2010, but it doesn't work the same way. Parental controls still block Internet access to unpermitted sites, even though I told NIS 2010 to turn off. Is there a way to completely disable or turn off NIS 2010 for a specified time? Say, "fifteen minutes", or "two hours", or "until system restart"?
2. NIS 2006 also had a password for changing settings, but I can' t seem to find that on NIS 2010. There's a password for parental control, but that's it. Is there any way to password protect the NIS 2010 settings?
In short, what I had on NIS 2006 was parental controls set up with specific allowed websites and all other websites were blocked. That way anybody could get on the computer at any time and I never had to worry.
But sometimes I wanted to allow unfettered access to the Internet and all websites (if I was doing some research, for instance). I would just click "turn off NIS 2006", set the timer for fifteen minutes or two hours, and then go surf. Parental controls would turn off, but automatically come back on when the timer was up. It was really nice.
I want to do the same thing on NIS 2010. Disable parental controls for a specified time, like a timer for parental controls. Does that exist? Am I missing a setting?
Thanks,
Phontaine
