I have Web Protection disabled - on purpose, as I have my own (work based) VPN ... so all is good, and I am safe (or as safe as I want to be, LOL!). But then, Norton for iOS insists on showing an alert for this. How to disable the alert?
Yes, agreed! I don't plan to disable the notifications ... but it would be nice to disable one that is turned off (manually) => or I keep seeing 1 alert, and continue to check it (as I do pay attention to Norton alerts ).
So your work based VPN is set up in the VPN Configurations section of iOS settings, which is where the Web Protection feature's configuration is set up. And you can only have one there at time. I understand what you are up against.
The only other option would be to disable notifications from Norton 360, but that is probably not a wise choice.
Thanks! And yes, I agree ... I can turn it back on, but then it disables and turns off my desired VPN. Both options show up in Settings > VPN Configuration ... and only one can be enabled. So seems I'm stuck with the alert (as I can't turn Web Protection on)?
You cannot disable the alert. But you may be able to turn Web Protection back on. It is not a VPN, even though it shows the VPN icon when enabled. It is what is called an on device VPN. This allows Norton to access the Apple programming API's needed to provide the Web Protection feature. This feature helps protect you if you happen to stumble across a malicious web site.
