If you right click your mouse on the Norton icon , lower right hand corner of screen near the clock, you should see a two of the options are checked with ticks, one being enable firewall the other enable auto protect .
While those are checked they are indeed enabled, unchecking them will disable those main parts of the program.
Therefore if you uncheck them both the program is basically disabled.
**The problem you had with the Norton Status widget ? .......... have you re-downloaded it to see if runs ok now?
If you "saved" the widget when you downloaded it (example, I saved it to my Downloads folder on Vista), you can just launch it again from the file if you still have it.
If you are running windows vista, use the "problem reports and solutions" utility found in the control panel to check for offers of a solution to why it stopped working.

Thanks for your reply.I now know how to temporarily disable Norton360 v2.
As regards the widget problem,it didn't download. When I go into "problem reports and solutions",it says "Symantec service framework stopped working".Norton seems to be working o.k.,so I don't know what this means.
Hello again,
sorry for the misunderstanding re; widget.
The error you are seeing in problem reports and solutions " "Symantec service framework stopped working".
appears to be happening to a few users of version 2 of Norton 360 and I have yet to see of what is causing this.
This is one of the many services that the program has running to keep it fully functioning.
If your product is working ok now I would leave well alone where the widget is concerned.
Do however, check problem reports and solutions occasionally to keep an eye on the framework stopped working error.
You can also use that utility to look for offers of a solution.
