I have Norton 360 version 21.1.0.18, and I can't run Disk Optimization. It's trying to run defragmentation on drive C:, which is a SSD. As I understand it, Norton is not supposed to run Optimization on SSDs, but nevertheless it tries every time it runs, and then gives me the error "Drive C: Error - Not Completed". I would simply turn off the feature, except I also have a couple of normal HDDs that I wouldn't mind undergoing the optimization. How can I tell Norton 360 to skip drive C: but still have it check the other drives?
Yes, I'm aware that it shouldn't run on a SSD. I was under the impression that Norton 360 knew this too and wouldn't attempt it. I can not find a setting anywhere to have it run on the other drives, and the whole process stops once it fails to run on drive C:. When I turn off the feature completely the program still complains that optimization is required, so the "needs attention" exclamation point is always present. This wouldn't bother me, except that it means I have to actively open Norton to make sure that something else doesn't need attention. It's just annoying. I'd like to either be able to set it to scan the drives that aren't SSD independently of the SSD, or be able to turn it off in such a way as to have it not tell me that it needs to run.
I'm sorry I don't know wenough about N360 to help on the specifics of where .... but let me jog some of the other users who do know these things ...
To the best of my knowledge Norton products with optimization in do recognize the presence of SSDs and avoid them but N 360 is designed for the install and forget it users and so I don't know what changes one can make in settings.
Hang on for a while ....
