"Fix It" started the Disk Optimization running (disk fragmentation). It has been running for over 16 hours. Is this normal because I haven't run it for a while? Should I cancel it and try again later?

Unfortunately, you cannot exclude any particular drive from Disk Optimization. Since you are having external drive, you can try disconnecting it for time being and then run the disk optimization.

If you have version 4 of N360, then you could turn off Optimization in the Settings and run the Insight Optimization task manually from the Norton Tasks display. The Insight Optimization task only defrags the boot drive / directory.
Thanks for the reply,I knew that I was able to exclude the external hard drive with Norton 360 3.0
Thanks for the reply,I knew that I was able to exclude the external hard drive with Norton 360 3.0, I wonder why it was eliminated from 360 4.0
Thanks

Hi,
can you please tell us the exact version of your Norton product?
1. Open the main window
2. Click on Help & Support -> About menu
3. On the About window find the version number (it will look like this: 5.1.0.29)
Thanks!
Welcome Diane,
One additional question. How much RAM is installed?
Thanks
KookyBird wrote:It has been a week when I did a virus scan my laptop and when it got to the part where it runs the disk optimization, it gives an error. When I click to see the details, it says "Drive C: Error - not completed" Is there a reason as to why this happened? This is the first time that it has happened. The reason I did the scan was because I downloaded something that had a Trojan, but Norton quarantined it.
Thanks in advance!
Try rebooting your computer.
Click on Support - Get Support to run Autofix to check your installation and fix what it finds.
Run LiveUpdate manually a few times, rebooting as necessary, until no updates are available.
Reboot.
Now try the Optimization again.
Let us know if this helps.
