I have run Norton Security products from the year dot, I have also run Malwarebytes for a couple of years but as they are charging full retail price $59.99 for previous customers I have decided to ask more knowledgeable people than myself is it worth it and does Norton Security have the same security as Malwarebytes?
HitmanPro offers you a Free Scan for a second opinion. It is designed to check if your security measures work. If nothing is found (and we sincerely hope so), then you will never need a license. When a virus is found, then you will receive a free 30-day license to remove the threat.
You said " and so far is not clashing with Norton. "
As bjm_ says having two real time antivirus programs is NOT advisable.
There may be no problems highlighting at the moment, but if you do happen to pick up some malware, then that's when you will have problems with Norton and ScanGuard likely clashing as they both try to fix your issue.
I would also agree with bjm_ in regards to deactivating the premium function of MBytes.
See this link, https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/
To deactivate the 14-day Premium Trial of Malwarebytes for Windows, open the application, then go to the Settings > Account Details tab. Deactivating the Premium Trial downgrades Malwarebytes for Windows to the free version.
The use of third-party real-time antivirus solutions, concurrent with Norton Security, may cause unexpected behavior and undesired results, and is not supported. You should only run one real-time antivirus program at a time. Having more than one real-time antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and can result in program conflicts, false virus alerts, and lowered protection.
Thank you for your reply. I tried to get the free version of Malwarebytes but every version I downloaded was a 14 day trial and as I believe paid for software to be better than free software I downloaded and paid for ScanGuard' (has very good reviews) and so far is not clashing with Norton.
Hi, Peter. Norton concentrates mainly on antivirus but will pick up some PUPS and PUAS, but I'd suggest just using the free Malwarebytes version for the occasional back up scan.
I also run Zemana Anti Malware Free edition from time to time.
