Norton 360's idle time scan, set to once/week, ran several times daily. When it did, it would heat my HP laptop up to a point at which it was hot to the touch. We started shutting down the laptop between every use just to avoid this problem, because, no matter what I set the scan time to, it would always run several times daily. The final use of my laptop, my wife found it heating up with the idle time scan running. So, she put it to sleep...it never woke up. Norton destroyed my laptop and will do nothing to help me but offer to reconfigure it once we pay the $350 to have it fixed. I will never purchase another Symantec product again and recommend everyone else do the same.
