Do-search

I have encountered a search Trojan or hijacker named Do-search which is very persistent. It is not an add on and does not appear anywhere to permit disabling or removal!. In the case of internet explorer it modifies the Internet Explorer short cuts to add a string after "explorer.exe" which supersedes all search engines and your homepage. To eliminate either edit the shortcut to delete the string or simply delete the shortcut and create a new one. Not necessarily destructive but extremely annoying!

I guess you did not read my email! I just wanted to report the problem and how to fix it and could not find any other Norton page to report it!

Neither Norton or any of several other pgms detected "Do-search" which is not surprising as it  really is neither a trojan or a virus!

I solved my own problem but thought others should know!!

Yeah well users will have to get use to it here.

As to your problem,  It is not strictly malware and so is not detected due to that.   Although I consider this group in the upper end of PUP's.

Wven some of the tools that I use which are more advanced can not fix all of the changes to your system, but they are getting there.
