Does 360 automatically defrag my hard drive?

If so, how do i get it to manually defrag when I want it to?

Hello,

yes, the feature called Disk Optimization. But it only defrags the system partition (in XP just some windows files).

It is set to run during Background Tasks when the PC is in Idle time, but you can run it from Custom scans as well.

So is running my default WINXP defragger still necessary?

On XP Norton 360 will defrag the most used parts of the system partition, but not the whole disk, so sometimes it would be necessary to run it, but not as often as without Norton 360.

I have two hard drives.  Does this mean that Disk Optimization only every touches the hard drive where my windows is installed?

Also, i guess Windows defrag shouldnt interfere with 360 whatsoever?  I don't need to turn off 360 when running the default defragger?

Yes, you are correct with that. Only the system partition will be defragged by Norton 360.

They have no issues. When one is running, the other can not be runned, as they use the same Windows service.

No, simply run Windows' defragger. No need to turn off 360.
