Do I need to turn off NIS to run a full scan with MalwareBytes Pro?
I am running NIS 19.2.0.10 with MalWareBytes Pro 1.65.0.1400 on a Windows 7 Ultimate system.
I am also running the same version of MalwareBytes with NIS 21.1.0.18 and NIS 19.9.1.14 in two virtual machines with XP Pro SP3 in the Windows VM in the Windows 7 machine.
It is generally recommended to never run two security programs at the same time in real-time. MBAM Pro and NIS both run in real- time - so it is not recommended to run both at the same time. However MBAM Free (does not run in real-time) and can be used as an on demand scanner right alongside NIS with no conflicts.
Others will say go ahead and run them side by side - they will tell you they have had no problems for years - everyone seems to have an opinion.
Regardless of what folks say about conflicts between NIS and MBAM Pro, I would suggest you upgrade your NIS v 19 installs to v 21 and also update your MBAM. I believe version 1.75.0.1300 is the latest vesion.

Since full scan does not require real time protection to be necessarily enabled you can disable it. It will be a time consuming process to do a full scan if there is lot of data. Also be careful that you will need adequate amount of resources like Processor time, RAM and hard disk speed.
Further to previous comments in this thread, I've posted a screenshot here showing how to disable real-time protection in MBAM PRO. I've had MBAM PRO (with real-time protection disabled) and NIS installed on my computer for four years now and I've never had a problem running an on-demand MBAM scan while NIS real-time protection was enabled.
Symantec has a posted a support article here recommending that users only use one security program for real-time protection that validates what yank and other users have already suggested.
