Hypothetically speaking, if I were to run a backup on a backup set and then immediately run a restore on that set with the files being restored to their original location, would the files on the cloud still overwrite the files on the drive, or do only files that have been changed since the last backup get overwritten? I do have my reasons for wanting to overwrite an unchanged file on the drive.
Even if the date modified in the files in the backup set remains the same as the files on the hard drive and the files are seemingly unaltered in anyway? If so, why does it take longer to overwrite files that have been altered or even deleted and why do I only get a prompt to overwrite for such files? If I didn't know any better I'd say those files were getting skipped because they're exactly the same.
What I'm trying to do is restore a game save that may or may not have been corrupted by an event out of game (not a blue screen) that required me to do a forced shutdown on my laptop (holding down the power button) and I backed up the save in the backup set and not played prior to the event and I want to make sure that the save file in the backup set got properly restored to the hard drive. Maybe I'm worrying over nothing, but we're talking MANY months of progress here, so I hope you'll excuse me for being a bit OCD on this.

If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.

In the Norton product main window, double-click Backup, and then click Restore Files.

In the Restore Files window, under Restore From, click View All.

Click a backup set, and then click OK.

In the Restore Files window, under Files, click Browse for Files and Folders.

Select the files that you want to restore, and then click OK.

In the Restore Files window, under Restore To, click Original Location.

Click Change and follow the instructions if you don't want to restore to the original location.

Restoring to the original location WILL overwrite the files in those directories. Step #5 shows click "change" to restore those files to a different directory to prevent overwriting. Hope that clears this up a bit.
