I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2 and have the Windows Update Service disabled, preferring to do any updating myself. I'm also running a Windows configuration protection tool called WinPatrol Plus. It doesn't allow configuration changes without my approval. In the past week, I've started getting a WinPatrol popup:
"A Change has been detected in your Windows Auto Update features.
Previous Status: Turn off Automatic Updates.
Has been changed to: Download options for me, but let me choose whether to install them.
Do you want to prevent this change?"
Clicking yes to prevent the change works for a little while, but the popup reappears often.
Is the Windows Update options something that NIS2009 messes with? If so, how do I turn off the "feature"? I hadn't downloaded any Windows updates before I started getting the WinPatrol popup.
Thanks,
Mark
