Does NIS2010 "lock" any particular drive or programs

Dear All,

Can anyone explained these strange events......

Does NIS2010 "lock" any particular drive or programs.   In other words, why does NIS2010 Icon on the system tray turns grey (like in silent mode)....when I used A:\ & B:\ (for a particular hardware).

(Note: no particular programs were added into CONFIGURATION for automatic silent mode ON.

Let me further explained :-

I have a PMP (Personal Movie Player) with a SD card.  I renamed them to A: & B: drives....so evertime I plug in the PMP, they will automatically be A & B drive.

The PMP has its own software that it needs to run.  It is installed into the harddisk and reside on the System Tray.  When the PMP is plugged into any USB...the PMP device Manager should turn GREEN and I should be able to use the PMP software.

However, the strange thing is that NIS2010 Icon on the System Tray turn GREY when I plug in the PMP.  I could not also start the PMP software.  It is like NIS2010 is "locking" both the drives and device manager software for the PMP.

When I change the PMP to other drives beside A:\ & B:\.... the above problem disappear!!!

This happened when drive A & B are used with software installed and reside in system tray.

I experiment it.......using SCANDISK thumb drives with A:\ & B:\ (without any software)... I was able to use those drives without any problems.  However, if I installed a software that comes with the thumb drive and which reside in System Tray, rename the Thumb drive to A: or B:, the above problems happened again.

So, I am puzzled why does NIS2010 turn GREY & seems to "lock" the software that reside on System Tray, when drives A or B are used?

Any thought?

P/S :- The NIS2010 is the latest version and I am using Windows XP SP3.
