Does Norton Management agent already included with NIS 21.0.1.3?

I had removed my previous version of Norton Internet security (20.4) and also the Norton Management agent before installing the current 21.0.1.3 version of NIS. But, after installing; clicking on Norton Management icon on the NIS interface takes me to browser to manage them and I also see my current computer listed in the management window. Do I need to download the Management agent separately again?

Had you used the Norton Management in your previous 20.4 version? From what I remember ( I have upgraded already), the Manage widget in the NIS interface opened in a browser window in the v20.x.x.x products, as you are describing for the v21 version.

Hi Renji,

Norton Management functionality is included in 21.0 version. You can directly manage your products by clicking 'Manage Now' from Manage Widget. All you have to make sure is 'You are signed into Norton account'.

At the top of main UI, you can see 'Sign In' option. Make sure you are signed in there to manage your products remotely.

Kindly let us know if you need more info.

Thanks!

Yes, but clicking on the Norton management widget in the v20.x.x.x for the first time will ask you to install the Norton Management Agent and register the computer. However, in v21 it directly takes you to manage page as if it is already installed.

So, I do not need to install the norton management agent separately, do I?

Hi Renji,

Yes, no need to install agent separately. NIS will take care of remote management.

Thanks!

That is great. It reduces an additional process at the startup and some memory.

I have installed NIS 2014, and have logged in, but after going to the management site, the current devices doesn't show.

Any way to get the PC I installed NIS to show up on the management page?

Thanks sunitha for the tip.. I wasn't able to add my PC to Norton Management also.. figured it out by myself... ;-)

I tried logging out and back in, still does not want to show up.

You need to check the setting for Remote Management. From the main Norton interfiace, click Settings - General - Other Settings. Turn on the setting for Remote Management. Click on the ? beside the setting for an explanation of the setting.

Ah, thank's I will check on that.

Does this setting do anything with Norton Studio? When I click the button it sends me to the Windows Store but the Windows Store says the app is no longer available?

From the KB information you get when you click on the ? beside the setting.

The Remote Management feature lets you remotely manage Norton Internet Security by using Norton Management, Norton One, and Norton Studio app. You can view the security status of your device and fix some security issues. When you turn on Remote Management, Norton Internet Security publishes details such as your subscription status, current security status of your device, and other details to the Norton Management, Norton One, and Norton Studio app. You can access Norton Studio app in Windows 8, Norton Management, or Norton One and manage your device and Norton Internet Security.

I am not using Win 8, so I will leave it to others to help with the disappearing app from the app store. I could be Norton is just updating it for Win 8.1

Hi Cspencerjr,

That setting is a toggle button with on/off option only. As mentioned in KB article, if it is turned on, you can manage your products through Management, Studio etc.

It wont lead you to app store.

Thanks!

Initially it wouldn't go to on, kept saying it couldn't find any account information.

So I had to uninstall Norton, and use the removal tool to clean out all symantec apps.

After a reinstall I was able to change the setting, and that worked. Thanks.

As for the app store, clicking the Norton studio button sends me to the Windows 8 store (I'm on win 8 pro) which then says the app is no longer there.

Well I went out to the app store and found the app manually and am using that one.

I wonder if there was a different app for the beta and it didn't get changed, or there is a new app that hasn't been released yet?
