MS tech support said I must uninstall Norton to install a recent "important" MS Wdws update that Norton is blocking.
(The update is related to global time zone adjustments.)
1. Will I need to redownload Norton afterwards?
2. I am at my max of 3 copies. Will Norton detect that I am reinstalling on the same computer?
Hi kriskringal,
First of all, I have my doubts removing Norton will clear up a problem you have installing global time zone adjustments (win update) - but that is just my personal opinion. I will answer your questions though.
1. Will I need to redownload Norton afterwards?
You will have to geta fresh copy from somewhere and if you do not have a copy saved to your desktop or on a cd, then you'll have to download it. There are different methods of downloading it, but perhaps the easiest is to log into your Norton Account and click on the yellow download button, thei will download and install an activated copy of your product. You may have to run LiveUpdate (rebooting when requested) until such time as LiveUpdate responds "no updates found".
2. I am at my max of 3 copies. Will Norton detect that I am reinstalling on the same computer?
Yes, by all means Norton should detect it and it should not be a problem - of course now that I said that, I'll tell you if you do have a problem you can contact Live chat, explain the situation to them and they should be able to free up an activation.
