Does using Windows Indexing Service impact Full System Scan execution times?

Hello, I've always had the Indexing Service turned off on my PC.  Full scans now take about 8 hours, and I'm wondering if turning the Windows XP Indexing ON might help significantly reduce that time.  I'm not sure how Norton handles individual files, but if Windows can find a certain file faster on an indexed drive, perhaps it might help Norton run quicker as well.

I'd appreciate any informed thoughts on the matter.  Thanks!
