I run Windows 7 / 64bit with an 8 cores of Xeon processor and 16Gb memory.
1. The deep defrag killed my Windows XP Virtual PC installation, which I need for running several key legacy applications. It used to load up just like that; now it demands a password, and I never set it up with a password, so I'm stuffed. That's going to take me half a day of lost business time to unsinstall and reinstall, then reinstall all my 32-bit apps. Thanks, Norton.
2. Even the scheduled daily Quick Scan trashes my FTP uploader every time. I run several web sites for clients, and it wipes the data file that holds all the FTP settings, every day. The Help Guide is next to useless - trust me, I'm a Technical Writer. I have to manually restore the FTP data file to get back on line, and then reconfigure all the operational settings manually.
3. There are several other irritations, like it wipes my Recently Used list in Word 2010, and others.
This was my worst investment ever, in a Norton product. I can see why they dropped it from the normal Norton SystemWorks Pro.
So if you're thinking of buying a copy, think long and hard. Remember - there's no Technical Support.
I have now uninstalled it. I don't suppose there's any way to get a refund, and the down time is down the toilet..
