Download Accelerator Plus-Adware.DAP

I have NIS 2009 installed and no viruses have been detected on the computer. So the problem is, I've seen a lot of forums on other sites which say DAP is adware and im not sure because Norton detects nothing, so is Download Accelerator Plus "Adware.DAP".

Also Symantec says its adware activity, so can anyone help me?

Sorry if the post is in the wrong place i didnt know where to upload it,

thanks.

Hi ShinOrochiX,

Interestingly, Symantec has an attack signature for an exploit that targets a buffer overflow vulnerability in Download Accelerator Plus, so, ironically, in this specific situation Norton actually protects DAP from being used by malware authors as a pathway onto your system .  From what I can tell, DAP appears to be legitimate although I have seen some postings online that question its privacy policy and its reported inclination to pop up ads onto your PC.  This might be one of those cases where one man's adware is another man's ad-supported free software.  Some security programs might flag it as malware, others not.

Why would you use it?

I wouldn't trust any download accelerator

So DAP isn't trust-worthy, i just use it to speed up downloads.

thanks for telling me, i think i might uninstall it.

regular download would do the trick anyway
