Downloads file with desktop shortcut, found after upgrade center product upgrade

What should be done, if anything with this resulting files or set of files found as a shortcut on the desktop, after performing upgrade from version 4 to version 5 through the Upgrade Center?

Desktop shortcut is called, "Norton Installation Files", and the shortcut points to C:\Users\Public\Downloads\Norton\{N360S_prod_1.6.18_5.1.0.29}

What exactly is it, should I delete it, or save it someplace off the computer?   Why the curled brackets for the file?  Or is it a folder with other files in it?  The meaning of the "5.1.0.29" is easy to recognize, but what is the "1.6.18" part?

Hi,

This is to let you know that the installation files are still in your computer, you can save or transfer it to CD/DVD, USB or external drive for future use(backup). You can use the same files to install on other computers if you have multiple licenses, do not have to re-download it again on other computers. You can save the whole Norton Folder from C:\Users\Public\Downloads\. Once you save the installation files, you may delete the shortcuts.

1.6.18 can be the version of the Norton Download Manager used by Norton 360 5.1.0.29.

Thanks Yogesh.

Could you or someone tell me which file I would run, if I were to install N360 from that folder onto another computer?  I would assume I would only run the EXE file of about 47 MB, but there were a few other files in that folder.  Would I need to use the whole folder, or would I only need two or three files from that folder, in order to install Norton 360 v. 5 on another computer (or even on the same one on which the installations were made)?

1.6.0.18 is the version number of the Download manager file. ie: N360Downloader.exe file. This file is used to download the Norton product and definitions.

Now the folder that you mentioned, contains the setup file to install the Norton product. This folder may contain the following files:

-- 2011Plugin.dll

-- downloadinfo.txt

-- N360Downloader.exe

-- N360-UPGRADE-ESD-NoDefs-18-x-y-z-EN.exe where x, y, z stands for the version number. It may look like 18.6.0.29 in your case.

-- symcdefs.exe

To install the Norton product in the same computer, you need to double click the N360-UPGRADE-ESD-NoDefs-18-x-y-z-EN.exe file. That will install the Norton 360 5.0 product.

To install the Norton product on another computer, you need to transfer the entire folder to the other computer. Then go to the folder and double click the N360-UPGRADE-ESD-NoDefs-18-x-y-z-EN.exe file.

Thanks, CyberLife.
