For a while now every time I tried to run an installer package like the ATI latest beta executable it would take like10 - 15 seconds for the windows file explorer to load it up. At first I thought it was my drive performance cache settings. Changing that made no difference but marginally. Then I used msconfig and autoruns to unload startup apps and services. Again only marginal improvement. Interestingly enough the first 30 seconds after windows 7 bootup it would take under 3 seconds to load the driver installer YES-NO run me dialogue. After 30 seconds slow as can be with long waits watching the hour glass spin. Then all that was left was Norton Internet Security 2013 so I uninstalled that and what do you know its speedy again!
So I have to ask WTH?! I tested load times over and over again, and now it takes under 3 seconds again if not less to load!
There must be a bug or autoprotect is slowing everything down. My specs:
