drunken mouse

My new PC crashed at the end of installing Office365 and I had the BSOD. An MVP in the Microsoft Community asked for a screen print of my DMP folder, which is when I discovered that I hadn't enabled it/set it up - I don't know what I don't know - it should have been in place automatically in my view.

Anyway I discovered ten dmp files (not related to the crash) and the MVP told me to uninstall then reinstall my Synaptics pointer driver, which I did. Since then, my cursor decides where it  wants to go when I'm creating an email, Word doc or a forum thread. Sometimes the cursor will jump up to other lines above - other times especially when I'm near th [**caused by mouse:th driver from th e] e right hand edge it will slowly move to the left, sometimes highlighting text as it does. Other times it moves downwards and I then find I'm at the bottom of the Forum screen or upwards to the top of the Forum screen. If it reaches the left side of the screen I get other windows/messages from various source popping up. I've just found that I can capture a screen by hitting 'prt scr' without holding down the 'fn' key.

So I created a thread on the HP Help Community and I've been told it's a hardware problem in my PC. Could this be right? It's only happened since I download the mouse from HP's website. It might be a hardware problem with my new wireless mouse so I check if there's a new driver for it.

Part of this just jumped up there** as I was watching the keyboard not the screen when I was typing.

PS despite all my moans about these little niggles I am very impressed with the laptop, Win 10 and Office 365 other than the problems with IE/Norton that MS is causing.
