I installed a replacement boot drive yesterday, and restored an image of the original onto it from another HD in the system, using a Recovery Disk (not the Recovery Disk because I needed some drivers).
The restore / recovery took about 30 minutes and I’m satisfied with the result. But there were a couple of anomalies that I’d like to know more about, if anyone has some light to shed.
I picked up an extra boot option in boot.ini, for “Windows XP/2003.” I’m guessing that’s the OS from the Recovery Disk. I got rid of it, but I’d like to know how it got there.
I was not offered the options promised by the documentation (Verify recovery point, Check for file system errors, Resize restored drive, …). They showed up, pre-selected and unalterable, on the last panel. I backed-up and looked around, but could not find a place to change them. Did I miss something?
Selected system specs: XP-Pro-SP3, NSW2008Prem. Old boot drive was Seagate 146GB 10K SCSI. Replacement is Fujitsu 146GB 15K SCSI.
Thanks,
