I have a NewStar hard drive dock which is connected to my PC via eSATA (or USB3 if I had such a port on my PC). I know from the BIOS I could set it to include the eSATA device in the list of bootable devices. So, I'm wondering what's the correct way to copy my existing internal c drive to the external drive in the dock. I'm using Ghost 15.0. I presume I tick the box that says "Copy MBR". Do I also tick the box that says "Set drive active (for booting OS)"? The "help" says only one drive in the whole system can be active at a time. I didn't want to try it just in case I lose my current active system and end up being trapped with an unbootable system. So, is it OK to leave this box unchecked and when I need to boot off the copy, either by physically replace the existing drive with the new one, or boot off it while still in the NewStar dock connected externally? My main goal is to keep a duplicate of my c drive in case it fails (had a couple of such experiences over the years). Of course I can do the usual thing and backup the c drive and restore it to a new disk later if and when the current internal drive fails (I do such backups on a regular basis and in fact did recover once when the drive failed). I like the idea of having one prepared for a faster recovery process from a disaster, which is one reason I bought the dock.
