DVD/CD drive disappeared after installing Comcast's Norton.

My bad, could someone move this to the Other Products Forum - I know better than to post in 360 - sorry!

A little help for an OP over on COMCAST.  My suggestion would be to disbale real-time in Spybot, run McAfee remvoal tool, run NRT (a couple of times with reboots) get a fresh download of CNSS and install/run liveupdate until it responds no more updates available and let us now if their DVD/CD drive is back - however they indicated something about drivers.  Can someone help out here?  Their post is below - thanks in advance.

"I installed Norton on the last day McAfee was still covered...since then, I have lost the cd/dvd drive in my computer:

Windows Vista

Norton 4.1.0.32

Spybot S&D with Teatimer

The only fix I can seem to find is manually going in and editing the registry, which SHOULD NOT be Norton's fix. I did find a supposed download on Symantec's site for fixcd.reg, but it isn't anything but a text file, which basically means manually editing the registry with the info in the text file.

This problem has been going on for 2 weeks. I finally got fed up, and did a system restore, back to May 7th. It wiped Norton out, had parts of McAfee still installed, but I got my cd/dvd back. When I reinstalled Norton, the dvd drive disappeared gain.

I think it's because of the stupid "gear" driver that wants to use my dvd for a backup, but I use an external hard drive for that.

I cannot be the only one going through this...HELP!"
