DVD spanning of recovery points / recovery disk can't connect to network-GHOST 15

Hello,

I looked quite a bit on this forum but my problems are somewhat different thant most which are posted here, though one posting gave me some "clues", I still thought it best to post a new thread on these issues, in particular the DVD - spanning issue of recovery points.

My parents have GHOST 15 on TWO (2) PCs.  One is a much newer machine than the other.  They just bought Ghost 15 last week and then the second copy this week.  I set it up for them.  They have a Western Digital MyBook World Edition 1 terabyte network drive attached to a Linksys WRT54G2 router.  The router is running in dual mode, wired and wireless.  The older PC has an Athlon XP3200+ CPU, has a wireless Linksys PCI (hence internal, not USB) network card.  It also has a Sony CD-ROM DRIVE and a BENQ DW1620 DVD burner which is already about 5 years old, though used very little (if at all) in the last 2 years.  The other system is a Dell Dual Core E6400 CPU, a DVD burner (proprietary to Dell, I can't tell you the model now as I am at my place and not at their home now).  This Dell is attached via wire to the router.  The router is a 10/100Mbps wired, 54-Mbps wireless G router.

On the Dell, I had absolutely NO issues burning images to the external WDC MyBook World hard drive and no issues burning images directly from Ghost 15 to span several DVD-R Verbatim DVDs.  The images are visible when seen in Windows explorer and in Ghost browser.  But on the Athlon machine (older one with the BenQ), the images burn perfectly to the Western digital ext. network drive via the wireless link, but after burning to DVDs, something fails.  The first attempt generated an error that image could not be burned successfully as I had "cancelled" the operation.  This was a direct image burn from the PC to DVD.  After the burn completed onto the 3rd and last DVD disc, I was prompted to insert the first disc, then the last disc.  But Ghost 15 would not recognize the 1st or the 3rd disc.  It kept prompting me to insert the correct disc (1 or 3).  I tried all three discs and got same msg.  On the second attempt, I tried to copy recovery point from the network drive (the mybook world above) onto DVDs.  This time, I did not get prompted at all to insert 1st or last disc.  However, Ghost did show that the burn/backup completed successfully.  After this, I clicked "close" to close the progress window and got no further messages and no errors ever came up during or after the burn.  When I inserted these discs into Windows, they looked emtpy in explorer and also empty in Ghost recovery point browser - all three were "empty".  Yet the burn took about 65 minutes so something happened during all this time...!

Is there any solution to this issue?  I have not updated Ghost 15 yet with Live update.  In fact, if you see my posting about my own Ghost 12 which I have at home, running Live Update on THIS and also on Ghost 14 (posted by another user here), had the very nasty effect of debilitating Ghost's ability to span multiple DVD discs.  So I decided to take the risk and not update Ghost 15 after installation.  Have there been any "fixes" to this issue via Live Update for Ghost 15?  I did see similar posting where a Symantec employee confirmed a similar problem with recovery points and that a fix would be in the works.  This is the thread I'm talking about:

Just wondering.  Hope to hear from Symantec or anyone else with experience on such problems.

Thanks in advance,

John
