Earlier this year I and others reported serious problems running NIS 2013 on a Windows 8 computer. The only solution at the time was to run NIS 2012.
I recently installed NIS 2013 and am happy to report it runs fine with absolutely none of the earlier problems. I am posting this now so that others who had the same issues can consider updating. Below is a summary of the most serious problems i encountered:

- Shut down and restart hangs where the hard drive light stopped flashing and no CPU activity was apparent, even though the Restart or Shut Down screens remained on for indefinite periods.
- Auto Fix attempting to turn back on the firewall or real time protection crashed Norton. [Specifiaccly mentioned as fixed]
- Individual programs (Photoshop Elements 6, Adobe Reader, Outlook and Word 2007, among others) either wouldn't open or would hang.
- Slow loading web pages in IE 10.
- Action Center notifying me there was no firewall or anti-virus protection. [Specifically mentioned as fixed]

I'm not sure whether it was Norton or Microsoft that resolved these issues; it may even be something in my computer's configuration, though I haven't made any major changes.
