Hi, I use Windows 10 on a late 2012 imac and firefox as a browser. I also use firefox on all my other devices and they're all signed into the same account.
The other day I downloaded easypdfcombine which happened to hijack firefox on the windows imac (only), at least for now.
I uninstalled firefox and deleted the Mozilla profile folder (which now contained a folder called easypdfcombine) found at %Appdata and ran a Norton system scan, which found and deleted some threats. This is the prcedure for removal I found on the internet. It is insufficient because:
Then I reinstalled firefox, and when I opened it for the second time, there was easypdfcombine again. Also no use using the Norton toolbar because easypdfcombine will still appear on top of it.
So, I figure easypdfcombine must place itself somewhere outside the profile folder and keeps interacting with the browser.
I fear of course also that it will end up infecting firefox on my other devices, as well as other browsers on this device.
