My computer decided to get a virus yesterday and now I can't access Internet Explorer unless I type a new link into a randomly occuring window (which always pops up at the most inconvenient times). So I managed to install Google Chrome so I can access the internet (since the virus only affects Int. Exp) but the virus is still on my computer, still popping up windows with SPAM advertising. I installed Norton and ran a virus scan: the results were one 'tracking cookie' which I 'fixed' but it keeps coming back. I tried to update Norton but it fails to process the updates after downloading them. I read somewhere that tracking cookies are no threat, so either this increasingly annoying virus isn't the result of a tracking cookie or it's using a tracking cookie as a disguise. Or something...
Personally I find that Norton causes more problems than it solves and is about as reliable as an M16A1 in a volcano, but right now I have nowhere else to turn to. Can anyone help me get rid of this virus? It's making it difficult for me to work. I'd like to have it gone by tomorrow.
