Email error: "mail server rejected the message"

My daughter just started college and is having problems with Wi-Fi. Previously, she was at my house, which uses only a wired Ethernet connection, and had no issues.

The problem happens now and then, seemingly at random. Outgoing emails on her Windows laptop get temporarily or permanently stuck in the Outbox (using desktop Outlook).

The “Email Error” message from Norton says: “Your email message was unable to be sent because your mail server rejected the message.” I’ve attached a screenshot of the error.

I was surprised that an anti-virus app was announcing mail server problems.

Regardless, is there any chance that Norton is causing this problem? Or is this a problem with Windows, Outlook, and/or the Wi-Fi?

Norton merely displays the notification from the email server that is rejecting the message.  It does this because Norton sits between the email client on your computer and the server.  If Norton was not monitoring emails the server notification would be displayed by your email client.  So, no, the problem is not caused by Norton, but is likely an issue with the email message not conforming to rules imposed by the email service.
