Email Scan Using Thunderbird

Using latest NIS2012 with Thunderbird for email taking it from IMAP servers. Does NIS2012 scan the email as it arrives and also as it leaves using SMTP server? Thank you.

Hi twins4384:

At this time, NIS 2012 only supports standard POP3 ports 110 (incoming)  and 25 (outgoing.) for email scanning.

IMAP uses a different port structure and is not currently supported.

However, you are still protected both inbound and outbound, due to the fact that the Auto-Protect feature in NIS will automatically trap and remediate any potential threats regardless of Port configuration, which is a very good thing!

Hope this answers your question!

Best wishes,

Hi twins4384,

Email scanning is independent of the email client you are using, so Thunderbird poses no problem.  However, Norton only supports scanning POP3 on port 110 and SMTP on port 25.  Other ports and IMAP are not supported.
